Tony here — writing to you on behalf of Broken Heart University with something a bit different, and honestly, a bit exciting.
Over the past few months I’ve been experimenting with taking my songwriting in new directions. I’ve always loved writing stories in sound, but there are some genres and styles I’ve never been able to explore properly on my own. So I decided to try something new: collaborating with AI as a creative tool. Not replacing anything — just giving myself a way to reach musical landscapes I couldn’t easily get to alone.
And out of that experiment, three new tracks have come to life.
“Delamere Street”
This one’s a sunshine-soaked, upbeat reggae tune inspired by one of Chester’s real gems: Delamere Street. I wanted to capture that feeling of wandering through town on a good day — a bit of groove, a bit of bounce, and a big smile in the sound.
“Reflections of a Cajun King”
A completely different flavour — gritty, humid, and full of swagger. Reflections of a Cajun King is swamp-rock with a male vocal lead, the kind of tune that feels like it crawled out of the bayou with a story to tell. This one was a real stretch for me stylistically, and exactly the kind of track I could only have built with a little technical help behind the scenes.
“Dee River Blues”
Inspired by the River Dee — my home, my backdrop, and a place I’ve walked beside all my life — this track brings a bluesy, reflective sound. A simple title, but it means a lot to me.
“Lions from the Cages”
This track tells the story of young people growing up in some of London’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods — kids who learned to play football not on sweeping fields, but in fenced-in street cages. It’s about resilience, raw talent, and the fire that comes from having to carve out your own space in the world. From concrete courts to the England national team, this is a song about unlikely beginnings and the power of perseverance.
Using AI hasn’t changed the heart of my music — it’s just opened new doors. The lyrics and ideas are still mine. I’m simply using new tools to explore new colours, textures, and moods.
It’s still Broken Heart University — just with a wider musical map.
